Electrical Safety PPEWhen it comes to protecting workers from fire or electrical hazards, knowing the difference between arc-rated (AR) and flame-resistant (FR) clothing is key.
-
Flame-Resistant (FR) Clothing:
Protects against flash fires and short-term heat exposure. It self-extinguishes but does not protect against arc flash. -
Arc-Rated (AR) Clothing:
Specifically tested for arc flash incidents. It’s always flame-resistant but also carries an arc rating (cal/cm²) for electrical protection.
If your crew is exposed to electrical hazards, AR clothing is required. For general fire risk, FR clothing may be sufficient.
Advanced Safety Supply provides compliant AR and FR workwear to contractors, utility crews, and industrial teams across Nashville and Middle TN.
